Salman Abedi: Manchester police release new photo of bomber as they search for more info

Police have released a new photo of Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi carrying a “distinctive” blue suitcase taken before the May 22 attack.Abedi’s face is hidden in the image, which was taken in the city centre on May 22 and released by the Greater Manchester Police on Twitter Monday along with a statement asking the public for any information about Abedi’s whereabouts between May 18 and May 22.Attack at Manchester Arena update: image released of Abedi carrying a suitcase. — G M Police (@gmpolice) May 29, 2017The statement goes on to say that police do not believe the suitcase contains anything dangerous, but to be cautious when approaching it just in case. The image was taken from CCTV.

“Today we are releasing an image of Abedi carrying a distinctive blue suitcase and an image of a replica of the case. We know he visited the Wilmslow Road area of Manchester but was also seen in Manchester city centre with the blue suitcase,” said the statement.The statement stresses the suitcase depicted in the image is different than the one used in the attack.WATCH: Armed police patrols fill the streets of Manchester

“We have no reason to believe that the case and its contents contain anything dangerous, but would ask people to be cautious,” it read.Abedi has been identified as the suicide bomber who detonated an explosive device in Manchester Arena during an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 people and injuring almost 60. Fifteen people have been taken into custody by authorities for connection to the attack, however a handful have been released. Abedi was killed in the explosion.
